Before the warm-up, fun and games of 14 Wing Greenwood’s October 16 CAF Sports Day, two big fans of 14 Wing service members and their families stepped up to show their support.
Greenwood’s SISIP and Canex, Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services’ entities, presented 14 Wing Greenwood’s Wing Fund with a $144,926 cheque.
“Every time a military member – or anyone – uses SISIP or shops at Canex, a percentage of what they spend there comes back to the wing,” said Nicole Peppard, senior manager for 14 Wing’s Personnel Support Program, which uses funds from Wing Fund to provide morale and welfare programs and services for the military community.
“TGIFs, concerts, summer programs, unit funds for Christmas or deployments…. Canex and SISIP support, with recreation card sales: that all goes back into programs and services we can offer you. This contribution today is pretty significant, and it’s something we can do for all the contributions and hard work you do for us.”
Canex offers military members and their families retail shopping, in-store and online, and partners with a variety of vendors to provide military-minded pricing and payment options. SISIP provides military members financial counselling, savings advice, emergency loans, investment and mortgage guidance, and more. This cheque represented a percentage of their work through 2024/ 2025.
