Greenwood Canex carries in-store selection of Cracked Armour gear
Supporting local veterans, the Greenwood Canex has recently started carrying Cracked Armour apparel in-store.
Mark Long, a former RCMP officer and long-time friend of Canex supervisor Laura Walsh, started the clothing line in 2018 to help raise awareness for operational stress injuries, traumatic brain injury and mental health, after he himself faced mental health struggles resulting from his work with the police force. Quickly growing in popularity, Walsh says local shoppers have been coming specifically to the store, seeking to purchase Long’s apparel since Canex first announced it would sell Cracked Armour products online last February.
“We have a lot of people that are local coming in, looking for it.”
Although the current selection is select, Walsh says Canex is excited to be able to provide items in-store for customers seeking to support the local entrepreneur.
“I’m a huge supporter of it,” says Walsh. “My husband went to school with Mark and his sister, and I just feel that supporting local is the way to go.”
Cracked Armour is not the only Maritime veteran’s company currently featured at Greenwood’s Canex. The store also carries Educated Beards, a Fredericton grooming products company founded in 2016 by Canadian Armed Forces veteran Kevin Leboeuf and his spouse, Alicia Philips, as Leboeuf was transitioning back into civilian life following a post traumatic stress disorder diagnosis from his tour in Afghanistan as a combat engineer.
