Wing celebrates sports success, contributions

In a day packed with 14 Wing Greenwood gathering, exercise, success and fun, the base’s sports community also took time to celebrate.

May 16, the Personnel Support Program presented its 2024 Sports Awards over a BBQ lunch and social following the annual RCAF Run event. PSP sports coordinator Alyssa DeAdder thanked the wider wing community for all their support of sports programs, including contributions from transport, imaging, accommodations, cleaners, foods, IT services, Annapolis Mess and The Aurora News. She also expressed appreciation for the people who step up as inter-section sports league executive, instructors, coaches, managers and officials.

Colonel Luc Vachon, who presented the Sports Awards with Wing Chief Warrant Officer Jonathan Proulx, said it’s “always a highlight to recognize good athletes, and their outstanding contributions to our sports here – they represent the best of what we stand for: teamwork, excellence, commitment.

“Sports and physical activity are not just about competition – there are connections to our military operation, and we have a responsibility to maintain our capability.”

Vachon also extended thanks to “everyone who supported sports as coaches, athletes, volunteers and officials.

“You make our base what it is.”
