New programs for Spring – and even the summer ahead – are making their way onto the PSP Greenwood Community Recreation calendar. Fun, fitness and special event programs are all on offer.
June 6, at 11:45 a.m., meet in the Canex lot and join PSP Greenwood Community Recreation for a 2.5-kilometre walk around the wing’s fitness trail: a great JRM Kick-off event to mark June is Recreation Month. They’ll have prizes for walk participants, and then you may join in the 14 Wing Combined Charities Load the Lab food drive, charity BBQ and free games, displays and door prizes.
Wheelchair basketball – June 7, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., come for free wheelchair basketball try-it nights at the Community Centre. No experience necessary, and all abilities are welcome (ages 14-plus). Chairs will be provided. Registration required.
YTGIF – 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday evenings, registration required.
- June 6 – foam party and fondue, $8 plus HST non-PSP Plan; $5 with PSP Plan
- June 13 – laser tag and pizza party, $8 plus HST non-PSP Plan; $5 with PSP Plan (Father’s Day – bring a plus one parent/ guardian)
- June 20 – Hello Summer sleepover, $50 plus HST non-PSP Plan; $40 with PSP Plan (ages 8 to 14)
Family drop-in – 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday evenings June 3, 10 and 17. Free play in the gym/ centre equipment. $5 plus HST per person non-PSP Plan; free with PSP Plan.
Pickleball – 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday evenings, registration required. All skill levels welcome.
Kids’ Club – 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday evenings, registration required. Ages six to 12.
- June 2 – bug-catching night, free with PSP Plan/ $5 plus tax non-PSP Plan member
- June 9 – special effects make-up, $5 with PSP Plan/ $8 plus tax non-PSP Plan member
- June 16 – water balloon fight and slip and slide, $5 with PSP Plan/ $8 plus tax non-PSP Plan member
Summer youth day camp – PSP Community Recreation offers weekly summer day camp for youth, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Camps all have themes, with daily swimming. Junior camp is for ages six to eight; senior camp is for ages nine to 12; sports camp is for ages nine to 14. There are various rates for PSP Plan members/ non-PSP Plan members, and single or multiple youth as you register. For more information, contact Community Recreation at 902-765-1494 local 568-5341.
