With three final meets closing out the season, the Greenwood Dolphins Swim Club wrapped up on a high note, earning new personal bests, medals and club awards. These meets offered a high-energy environment, where swimmers from across Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island came together in friendly competition. From novice-level participants to elite AAA swimmers, every Dolphin gave their all, delivering inspiring performances and achieving new milestones.
At the Nova Tech Explosion May 24 and 25 in Truro, 12 of GDSC’s Novice and Nova Tech swimmers represented the club with pride. Notably, 100 per cent of swims were personal bests for Ben A., Aliya G., Avalyn G., Isabella G., Camryn K. and Hunter V. Several swimmers also achieved times required to advance to their next competitive level, with Ben A. advancing to NT 1, Camryn K. and Izzie M. moving up to NT 2 and Aliya G. and Avalyn G. graduating to the Age Group level.
At the AA Spring Championships, held June 6 and 7 at Dalhousie University, nine Age Group swimmers represented GDSC with standout performances, collecting 13 medals. Gold medals were earned by Riley B., Carl S., Grace R., Tom B. and Jack M. (with two). Silver medals went to Elise K., Tom B., Riley B. and Grace R. (with two). Bronze medals were claimed by Adrien G. and Carl S. Additionally, 100 per cent personal bests were achieved by Summer N., Lauren P., Grace R., Adrien G., Tom B. and Carl S.; marking a strong finish to their competitive season.
Finally, 10 of Greenwood’s AAA swimmers, the club’s most elite group of athletes, competed at the Long Course Championships June 13 to 15 at Dalhousie University, delivering an outstanding performance. Bringing home another 14 medals were Dana L. (gold and two bronze), Petra S. (silver and two bronze), Abby B. brought home silver, Owen B. (silver and bronze), Ashlynn C. with a silver and Nathan B. (two silver and two bronze). Highlights of the meet included exciting swim-off races from Ethan T. and Ashlynn C., as they battled for spots in the finals. The women’s team also had a strong showing, finishing fifth in team rankings. Of special note, Abby B. achieved a qualifying time for the Canada Games ID Team, representing Team Nova Scotia; joining Owen B., who previously qualified.
As always, heartfelt thanks go to our dedicated coaching team: Amanda Bond, Hannah Banks, Lex Miller, Andrew Peddle, Ethan Travis and Abby Bond; whose guidance and passion made this successful season possible.
