Change of appointment shines light on dedicated, resilient 415 Squadron

In show of support and admiration for outgoing 415 (Long Range Patrol Force Development) Squadron’s Master Warrant Officer Edmond Delorme, and to welcome the incoming Master Warrant Officer Ian MacNeil, squadron and Defence Team members, command team representatives, family, colleagues and guests, gathered at the Annapolis Mess to observe the men’s change of appointment ceremony.

During time spent at 14 Wing Greenwood, Delorme helped 415 Squadron reach new heights and standards in areas of operability, effectiveness and support of personnel – to name a few milestones. Always aiming to set the bar high, he acknowledged it’s the team, and the team effort, that makes 415’s success possible.

“Over the past three years, I’ve witnessed dedication, resilience and professionalism at every level – qualities that have shaped an environment where people support one another, grow together and somehow managed to solve problems that no one saw coming.

“You’ve taught me a lot and helped shape the leader I’ve become,” said Delorme.

“It has been an absolute privilege to serve alongside such a talented, resilient group of professionals. Your hard work, your commitment to excellence and your uncanny ability to make the impossible possible – even when the mission changes half-a-dozen times – have made this unit a place of pride, teamwork – and put us on the map.”

Delorme’s service, commitment and compassion for those around him garnered respect and admiration from colleagues, friends, family and service members. As he prepares to take the next step in his journey (and enjoy some well-earned extra wood-working time), he recalled with fondness his time at 415.

“As I stand here today, I find myself filled with a mix of gratitude, pride and honour – and maybe a little surprise that I actually made it to this moment,” said Delorme. “It truly has been a privilege to serve alongside each and every one of you.”

Those in attendance bore witness to the change of leadership and the transfer of responsibility, authority and leadership in the change of appointment ceremony.

“It is an honour to be appointed to 415,” MacNeil said. “I am humbled by the opportunity to lead such an incredible group.”

He arrives at a time when new challenges and opportunity await. With extensive experience and years of previous service engagements, MacNeil is well poised to navigate 415 through upcoming changes. Looking forward to getting started, he emphasized “the concept of the common good,” aiming to keep the bar set high and to build on the work of Delorme, and the squadron’s predecessors.
