May 16, 14 Wing Greenwood military members and civilian personnel, family, friends, and even fur babies came together in front of Greenwood’s Annapolis Mess to participate in the annual Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) Run. Prior to the run’s warm up, led by PSP fitness instructor Tanya Brooks, event coordinator Captain Jaclyn Swain and Colonel Luc Vachon addressed the waiting crowd.

“I want to thank each of you for showing up today – not just for the run, but for what it represents,” said Vachon. “The RCAF Run is more than a fitness event; it’s a celebration of our heritage, our camaraderie and the strength of our team.”

The RCAF Run, which featured both a 10-kilometre run and a five-kilometre run or walk, was well attended, with between 425 and 450 entrants. Those on the route challenged themselves or moved along with friends, while spectators cheered for their peers along the sidelines and at directional checkpoints along the way. Marching behind the runners, a parade of walkers exemplified the wing’s motto of “Operate as One.”

From the finish line, participants and even more wing members gathered in the Annapolis Mess for a free BBQ lunch, grilled by the wing’s multiple command teams, and RCAF Run prize draws; the annual 14 Wing Sports Awards presentations, information displays from several wing and community organizations and fun carnival-style games, hosted by 14 Wing Combined Charities.
