As Fall settles in, the Making Spirits Bright holiday hamper committee has begun preparations for this year’s food and toy hampers for families with children in the Kingston/ Greenwood area.

Rising costs and ongoing financial pressures mean many local families may face a difficult December holiday season. With community support, we can help ensure they experience a brighter Christmas. Last year, the Making Spirits Bright program supported more than 100 families and 221 children.

Making Spirits Bright is a partnership of local organizations: the Kingston Lions, Kingston Fire Department, faith communities, 14 Wing Greenwood, the villages of both Kingston and Greenwood, and the Upper Room Food Bank; along with dedicated volunteers who fundraise, canvass, run toy drives and work together to support families in need.

This year’s hamper application period is November 2 to 16 Applications will be available at Sobeys Greenwood, Kingston Pharmasave, both the Kingston and Greenwood village offices, and online at makingspiritsbrightns.ca
