The Annapolis Valley chapter of Quilts of Valour Canada is hoping to send care across the country to CFB Wainwright, joining a national effort by its volunteer quilters and supporters to send warmth and comfort to soldiers involved in the October 17 fire.
The Greenwood Military Aviation Museum, which regularly hosts local quilt presentations for local servicemembers and veterans, will be a drop-off for new quilts you may have that could be added to the Valley shipment.
Finished quilts (ideally 60″ by 75″, but no smaller than 50″ by 70″), may be dropped off anytime during the museum’s open hours over the next few weeks. Canadian-themed fabrics and colours are often chosen by Quilts of Valour quilters, but beautiful fabrics hand-picked and pieced by you will be appreciated.
Please include your name and address on a tag pinneded to your quilt, so Quilts of Valour volunteers can sew an official tag to your quilt before it goes to its new home.
If you don’t quilt, but love this initiative, Quilts of Valour accepts donations for fabric, backing and notions here https://www.quiltsofvalour.ca/donate
