Seniors Care Grant applications open to December 1

Seniors in Nova Scotia may now apply for a $750 grant to help with healthcare and household costs.

The annual Seniors Care Grant program has helped tens of thousands of people across the province with the cost of home heating, yard work, meal preparation, grocery and prescription medication deliveries, phone service and more to help people stay in their homes longer. Other services the grant can help with include physiotherapy, foot care, mental health support, house cleaning, laundry, internet service, small home repairs and snow removal.

People aged 65 and over with a household income up to $45,100 are eligible for the grant. There are several ways to apply:

-by mail: Seniors Care Grant, P.O. Box 160, STN Central, Halifax, N.S. B3J 2M4

-print applications are available at Access Nova Scotia centres or by calling 1-800-670-4357 (toll-free)

The deadline for applications is December 1.

Seniors signed up for direct deposit with the Canada Revenue Agency will receive funds through direct deposit. All other eligible applicants will receive their payment by cheque.
