2026 CAF Imagery contest looking for your best military work, life shots

The 2026 CAF Imagery contest is all about celebrating the beauty found within the military community – whether it’s a family gathering or scenic vacation; a sports tournament victory celebration or the beauty in your backyard.

The contest, organized by Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) and the Imaging Systems Program Management (ISPM) of the Assistant Deputy Minister (Public Affairs) (ADM PA); will select five winners, one from each category, who will each receive a $1,000 cash prize.

Professional and amateur photographers are welcome to participate in any of the following categories:

Military Operations: Capture the professionalism, dedication, and operational excellence of the Canadian Armed Forces in action. From routine training and ceremonial duties to deployments and domestic operations, these images showcase the people, equipment and environments that define military service.

Community Life and Events – Capture recreation, sports, fitness, cultural celebrations, community events, family life, friendships, travel, hobbies, and everyday moments that reflect the diverse lives of CAF members, veterans, families, and Defence Team communities. Whether candid or planned, these images should tell the story of connection, belonging and the spirit of our military community.

Pets and Working Animals – Capture playful personalities, heartwarming moments, and the dedication of military working dogs, ceremonial animals, horses, and other animals that enrich our lives or support the mission.

Honouring History, Environment and Landscapes – Celebrate the places, history and heritage that shape the Canadian Armed Forces. This category includes historical sites and commemorations, Canada’s breathtaking natural landscapes, bases and wings in Canada and abroad, architecture, monuments and the built environments where military life unfolds.

JUNO – This category encourages aspiring photographers to capture the world through their own unique perspective. Whether it’s a favourite place, a family adventure, a pet, nature, a special event or an everyday moment; we want to see the creativity, curiosity and imagination of the next generation.
