Third Friday in September: Canada’s Military Family Appreciation Day
While Canadian Armed Forces military members serve Canada domestically and abroad, the Together We Stand Foundation is working to support their families, who serve this country, too; taking on significant challenges as they support their serving member’s career, sacrificing relationships and employment opportunities, moving to multiple new cities and schools and more.
Working closely with Members of Parliament, Together We Stand established a nationally-recognized day for Canadian military families. Now, the third Friday in September is known annually as Military Family Appreciation Day – a tool to educate Canadians about the impact they make on our country.
September 17, at 8 p.m. AST, join Together We Stand’s CEO Rick Seymour, with guest military spouses, in one of its regular “fireside chats,” a free online webinar covering “The Families Behind the Force – A Special Military Family Appreciation Day Conversation.” This promises to be an open and candid conversation, exploring explore what military service asks of families; and an opportunity to celebrate what military life gives families: extraordinary experiences, resilience, friendships, pride and a shared commitment to service. Most importantly, what do military families need from Canada today, and how can Canadians support them?
