Summer soccer wasn’t the kindest to 14 Wing Greenwood’s base teams, as both the men’s and the women’s teams came up short in the Canadian Armed Forces Atlantic region tournament, played in Halifax August 17 to 21.
On the women’s side, 14 Wing opened with a 5-0 loss to Formation Halifax, a 12 Wing Shearwater and CFB Halifax combined team, August 17. After a day’s schedule break, 14 Wing met 5th Division Canadian Support Base Gagetown August 19 and took a 5-0 loss. Heading into the play-off to make the August 21 final, Greenwood lost 9-0 against Gagetown August 20, ending their tournament in third place.
The men opened August 17 with a 7-0 loss to 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown, but were out August 18 to notch a 5-0 evening-up win against Shearwater. August 19, 14 Wing lost 3-0 to CFB Halifax. The men lost August 20, in the second vs third semifinal, to Gagetown, 3-0, to finish the tournament in third place.
