The West Nova Scotia Regiment Regimental Association will hold its 75th reunion September 18 and 19.
The event will include a Friday evening reunion in-clearance and BBQ at Borden Hall, 5th Canadian Division Support Group Detachment Aldershot. The first 100 people who in-clear, from 6:30 p.m., will receive a special edition lapel pin. A BBQ and social gets underway at 7 p.m.
Saturday events open with a 9 a.m. in-clearance opportunity at Borden Hall, with everyone gathering for the 11 a.m. memorial service at the cenotaph. A no-host lunch will begin from 11:30 a.m. at King’s Arm Pub in Kentville (pay as you go).
From 1 p.m. Saturday, the kit shop will be open at the Kentville Legion, as the 1:30 p.m. regimental association annual meeting sits down at 1:30 p.m. Pre-dinner drinks are on offer at the downstairs Legion bar from 3:30 p.m., with seating for the reunion dinner at 4:45 p.m. The head table will be marched in at 5 p.m. The guest speaker will be former WNSR commanding officer, Lieutenant-Colonel Mike Bobbitt, who will talk about his new position with Joint Task Force North. A post-dinner social continues in the downstairs Legion bar.
Registration is open now, and due by September 7, to help the organizing committee with its planning. Due to costs incurred to organize and run the reunion, all attendees must pre-register and pre-pay. There will not be extra servings available at either the BBQ or formal dinner for guests who “just show up.” Registration options and pricing includes full weekend, or just Friday or Saturday, events. Association membership dues may also be paid with reunion registration, or in-person at the reunion. Reunion attendees may be able to book at room in Aldershot (pending availability) by calling 902-678-7930 local 2137.
Please reach out to WNSR members or alumni you know, make a September 18 and 19 reunion plan and get registered. For information, contact WNSRRA vice-president Todd Harris, harris@army.ca
