Greenwood Cadet Training Centre summer in full swing

Another summer at the Greenwood Cadet Training Centre (CTC) has taken off! Summer training is one of the most anticipated aspects of the Cadet program, when youth develop invaluable skills and relationships that last a lifetime.

This year, Greenwood CTC is offering five courses, with a focus on aviation and fitness. Introductory level courses are two weeks long and take place from July 13 to 23. A second group of Cadets will arrive July 27 for instructor-level training, which will to August 20.

Cadets enrolled in aviation training are immersed in classes about aerodynamics, meteorology and safety protocols. These Cadets gain a more in-depth understanding of ground school material.

Fitness courses emphasize the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and positive well-being. Cadets selected for these courses also develop leadership skills applicable to sports and fitness environments.

The Power Pilot Training Course is delivered in partnership with the Annapolis Valley Flight Training Centre. This seven-week course will challenge eight selected Cadets to achieve a private pilot license by the end of the summer.

The success of Greenwood CTC is made possible through the outstanding support of 14 Wing Greenwood. From providing infrastructure and resources to fostering a welcoming environment for Cadets, the wing plays an essential role in delivering a meaningful summer training experience.

Greenwood CTC invites all members of the wing community to attend its graduation parades on the 14 Wing parade square, celebrating the accomplishments of the Cadets who have trained at Greenwood this summer. Cadets in the Aviation Technology and Aerospace and Introduction to Fitness and Sports programs will have their graduation parade at 6:30 p.m. July 23. Cadets on the Advanced Aviation, Fitness and Sports Instructor, and Power Pilot Training courses will have their graduation parade at 6:30 p.m. August 20.
