The YMCA Southwest Nova Scotia recently marked its annual meeting in Greenwood in May, announcing major growth, a new strategic plan and expanded services, including the anticipated opening of its new childcare centre in Coldbrook.

Driven by rising community need, the YMCA has grown from a $3.1 million to a $8.4 million budget, while increasing its workforce to nearly 200 staff in just a few years.

“We are seeking community-minded leaders with governance, finance and strategic skills to help guide this next phase,” says Craig Moore, newly elected board chair.

“With the Coldbrook childcare centre opening soon, this is a pivotal moment for the Valley. We need strong board leadership to ensure sustainable growth as we expand services for families.”

The YMCA Southwest Nova Scotia operates in more than 28 locations to deliver childcare, wellness, youth and before and after school programs, supporting families in communities throughout the region.

As the organization advances its new strategic plan, “Igniting Impact – Shining Together,” through 2029; it is recruiting board members to help shape long-term impact across the region. Contact craigstuart.moore@ns.ymca.ca to express your interest.
