Valley darts athletes see national success, find international opportunity, at recent youth tournament

The Valley Youth Darts League continues to build momentum, as local players recently returned from the May, Quebec-hosted Canadian Youth Nationals with impressive results – and exciting opportunities ahead on the world stage. Competing among 128 top youth dart players from across Canada in May, Team Nova Scotia once again demonstrated the strength and dedication of its athletes.

Among those representing the Annapolis Valley was Cole Morrison, Team Nova Scotia’s top-ranked senior youth (male), who delivered an outstanding performance throughout the competition. Morrison advanced to the semi-finals of the U23 division, finishing among the top-four players. His strong showing reflects his individual skill and commitment. Morrison is one of only four players in the U23 division across Canada to now be invited to the World Masters, July 14 to 19, in Las Vegas. The invitations were presented during the nationals awards banquet. In other tournament competitions, Morrison also finished top-four in the NDFC Ranker Tournament, top eight in the Senior Boys Singles Knock Outs and top 16 in the Bursary – Senior Boys Knock Outs

Also with Team N.S. were Valley darts athletes Torin Campbell, 14, and Connor Campbell, 11. Torin, Nova Scotia’s #2 ranked Junior Youth (male), made it through the round robin openers to the top 16 in the NDFC Ranked Junior Boys competition. In the Bursary – Junior Boys Knock Outs, Torin made the top 32, while Connor, Nova Scotia’s #3 ranked Junior Youth (male), made the top 16. In the WDF U18 Canadian Open, both Torin and Connor made the top 64 – with Connor shooting his first 180 in this venue.

These accomplishments add to the growing list of successes for Valley Youth Darts participants, who continue to benefit from strong coaching, community support and accessible programming for youth ages six to 18 weekly at the Lawrencetown Legion. The Valley league is committed to supporting its players as they pursue these opportunities. Community fundraising efforts will continue to play a key role in helping athletes like Morrison represent their province and country on the international stage.
