A Greenwood “Nine and Dine” golf initiative designed for the veteran community and their family, friends and community golfers through the 2025 season is back on course again this year.
With the same operating premise – “It’s never about the golf!” – organizer Shannon O’Rourke says the May 22 return of Nine and Dine fun at the Greenwood Golf Club will start it all again for 2026.
“Last year, we started this event with the sole purpose to get folks out to enjoy a non-competitive nine holes of golf, with a wonderful meal at the clubhouse kitchen afterwards,” O’Rourke says. It was a success, with 148 different golfers last season attending, and a total of 566, nine-hole rounds of golf played through different, fun format – including surprise twists. Sponsors and donated prizes each and every evening – totaling over $5,000 by the final night – were on offer, including a building team hole-in-one prize: if not won, it was increased by $10 weekly.
Not won through 2025, that hole-in-one prize starts the new 2026 season off at $300. Nine and Dine happens weekly Fridays, with registration at 4:30 p.m. and golf starting at 5 p.m. Drop in!
