Three Valley youth are preparing for May’s National Youth Darts Championship in Quebec, as members of Team Nova Scotia.
This is the second time Cole Morrison, Torin Campbell and Conner Campbell will compete at nationals. They practice weekly with the Valley Youth Darts League in Lawrencetown. Morrison, 18, is currently Nova Scotia’s #1 senior male youth player; Torin Campbell, 14, is the #2 junior male player, while Connor Campbell, 11, is the #3 junior male.
The Valley Youth Darts League is a fun environment for youth ages six to 18, inspired by developmental programs such as Nova Scotia Youth Darts and the World Darts Federation (WDF). Volunteer coaches offer structured programming, including throwing mechanics, scoring and math skills, strategy and game formats, confidence building, teamwork and good sportsmanship. Parents and guardians are welcome to drop in to observe, meet the coaches or ask questions. League sessions are Sundays from 10 a.m. to noon at the Lawrencetown Legion (Branch #112). Membership is just $5 per week.
Youth also have opportunities to compete at local tournaments and fun shoots, regional competitions, Nova Scotia provincial playoffs, national championships and even international and global events under WDF Youth. Across many years, multiple Annapolis Valley youth have received invitations to represent Team Canada at the World Masters in Budapest and events in Japan, The Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
The Valley Youth Darts League actively fundraises through tournaments, bake auctions, raffles and draws, ticket auctions, youth dances and refundable collections. These initiatives help cover youth travel costs, tournament fees and team shirts. The incredible support from families, volunteers, businesses and the broader community plays a huge role in helping our young players chase big dreams and represent Nova Scotia proudly.
