April 25 ‘main event’ full of fun, family
April is recognized as the Month of the Military Child – a time to honour the resilience, adaptability and strength of those who grow up in military families. Military children experience unique challenges, including frequent moves and time apart from loved ones, yet continue to show incredible courage and flexibility. Often symbolized by the dandelion, they truly bloom wherever they are planted.
Military Family Services (MFS) Greenwood invites the community to join in this year’s celebrations. April 25, the “main event” will be a fun-filled community celebration, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Morfee Centre, 24 School Road, Greenwood; featuring short speeches from dignitaries, performances by the Greenwood Military Wives Choir and Dwight Ross Elementary School Choir, an awareness walk and DJ-hosted dance, a collaborative Military Child Story Canvas, glitter tattoos, pizza and refreshments. A sensory-friendly hour will be available from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. for the dance, story canvas and glitter tattoos.
MFS will also be hosting additional activities throughout April to celebrate and support military children and their families. For information and a full schedule of events, please visit Facebook @ MFS . SFM Greenwood or
