14 Wing Greenwood’s men’s Bombers hockey team has the same plan as 2025 as they head into the 2026 Canadian Armed Forces Atlantic region men’s hockey championship tournament, with just one change:

“Score more goals in the final,” says team captain Corporal Tyler Williams, the only Bomber playing from 5th Canadian Division Support Group Detachment Aldershot.

On home ice at the Greenwood Gardens last year, the Bombers won everything through their round robin games, earning the bye into the final. They met the 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown Warriors, who’d lost all their round robin games but ground back to win their play-off and semi-final games – and then then final, and 2025 regional title.

“Unfortunately, we just ran into a hot goalie in Gagetown, and couldn’t score past him.”

The ’26 Bombers sees a new first-line goalie, as last season’s second, Captain Nick Majcher steps up. He’ll be backed by Corporal Joseph Clairmont. Last year’s powerhouse “Tylers” line-up – Master Corporal Tyler Happeney, Corporal Tyler Currie and Williams – is down one Tyler, as Happeney posted away and no new Tylers came out through the winter practice season.

“We’ve had good practices all winter, especially since Christmas, and we’ve seen some new people settling in.”

That also includes new head coach, Major Adam Gorman, who joined the team in January to take the reins.

“He’s never played with Greenwood – he used to play goalie when he was posted in Halifax. We were looking for a coach, and we didn’t put that much pressure on him, just threw it out there,” says Williams.

Gorman coaches the U16 AAA Wildcats in Berwick, and Williams’ and Gorman’s sons play on the Western Valley Minor Hockey U7 team together.

“He knows the game really well, and he’s going to help us a lot – he knows what he wants from us, and he’s already fit in really well.”

Ten Bombers will join a team at the January 16 weekend’s annual Lawrencetown Cup, and a number of the roster also regularly plays in the Kingston recreational men’s league. The full Bombers’ roster will warm-up for regionals at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, January 21 in a friendly against the base’s senior men’s team at the Greenwood Gardens Arena. Spectators are welcome.

Gagetown hosts the 2026 regional tournament from Soldiers Arena January 26 to 30, and will welcome Greenwood, the CFB Halifax Mariners and the 12 Wing Shearwater Flyers.
