National Indigenous Peoples Day takes place June 21 – the summer solstice and also the longest day of the year; and a day to celebrate the culture, people and contributions of Indigenous people and Indigenous communities across Canada.
In recognition and support, 14 Wing Greenwood Defence Team members, community friends and family gathered June 20 for a flag-raising ceremony at 26 Canadian Forces Health Services. The group then walked to the teepee, near 14 Wing headquarters, to participate in a smudging ceremony.
