Flight training centre now offers multi-engine rating

After years of preparation, the Annapolis Valley Flight Training Centre is excited to now offer multi-engine rating training.

A multi-engine rating allows pilots to fly an aircraft with more than one engine, essential for pilots pursuing new opportunities in the aviation profession or their own personal aviation journey.

The multi-engine rating is one which there is “very high demand for” and an important “step in being able to add everything,” says AVFTC owner and chief flight instructor Josh Harris. In the past, “many Nova Scotia pilots had to go out of province to obtain a multi-engine rating,” Harris says. With the rating now more accessible in the Valley, pilots will save time, resources and more. Harris says the team is truly “excited to be able to offer this service – it’s not been in Nova Scotia for a long time.”

Located on base at 14 Wing Greenwood (566 Ad Astra Way), the AVFTC is a traditional flight school that welcomes pilots of all stages and abilities and offers training and knowledge to help them safely pursue their aviation passions. Whether you’re 14 years old and just starting your aviation journey or an experienced veteran, the AVFTC is a place where pilots – and prospective pilots – may obtain recreational or commercial licenses at their own pace. With top-notch facilities and staff – and a special connection with 14 Wing Greenwood, the training centre continues to elevate local aviation opportunities to new standards.

“We couldn’t ask for a better environment,” Harris says, describing the “special connection” to the wing since the centre opened in 2021, and which continues today. “It’s the retired military pilots and personnel that built the professional foundation and created the high standard.”
