Turning action on gender equity into reality

14 Wing Greenwood’s Defence Women’s Advisory Organization hosted a day of activities March 7, starting with a flag-raising event at 26 Canadian Forces Health Services and then a morning showcase of women-focused services, supports and businesses; and guest presentations at the Annapolis Mess.

March 8 is International Women’s Day, and Lieutenant-Colonel Shawn McGeown, the 14 Wing DWAO’s military champion, let everyone know the 2025 call to action, #AccelerateAction, is an opportunity to “drive progress fast.

“From the activism of the early 1900s in New York – with women marching for better working hours and wages and the right to vote; to the United Nations in 1975 hosting International Women’s Day on the global stage; we recognize incredible progress, and also that there is still work to do.

“Let us commit to accelerate action, and push policies where gender equity is not just an ideal but a reality.”
