Camp comes up with $1K for Terry Fox

,

Personnel at 5th Canadian Division Support Base Detachment Aldershot held their Terry Fox Foundation fundraisers September 24 and 25, with great success. The camp was able to raise $1,000 for the Terry Fox Foundation’s work.

The largest fundraiser was a fun and morale building “Put your Boss/ coworker in jail” event September 24, which ended up being the largest contributor: it alone raised $485. Without getting into great detail, the “prisoner” with the longest sentence was the detachment sergeant major, Master Warrant Officer Jason Moore.

On the day of the run, September 25, there was a great show of camp members, as well as family and furry friends. Personnel Support Program staff assisted with a warm-up and, prior to starting the run, there were a few words from detachment commanding officer Major David Garvin, who reminded participants of the importance of the event and its global scope. After the run, everyone was invited to enjoy a lunch, including a raffle of a few donated items and a 50/ 50 draw; all of which raised the remainder of the funds.

In conclusion, the 2024 activities were a great success for 5 CDSB Det Aldershot and the Terry Fox Foundation.
