A great day on the greens June 7 will be an even more excellent opportunity to celebrate all things Royal Canadian Air Force blue – and the RCAF’s 100th anniversary
The beautiful Osprey Ridge Golf Course in Pine Grove, Lunenburg County (just outside Bridgewater); will host this centennial, celebratory golf event, and plans to field a full registration for a day’s fun, games, prizes, food and challenge.
All team fee proceeds donated to the Greenwood Military Family Resource Centre. The GMFRC provides support and social programs for military members, their immediate and extended families, and veterans throughout Western Nova Scotia.
14 Construction Engineering Squadron Honorary Colonel Dan Hennessey has his finger on the pulse on the day’s activity. He’ll be joined by Nova Scotian singer/ songwriter – and former 14 Wing Greenwood honorary colonel – Terry Kelly, who will perform his tribute to the Royal Canadian Air Force, “No Sky Too High.”
Hole sponsors are also coming on board the tournament, ready to add prizing, challenge and support along the fairways and in the fun of the day’s play, including three hole-in-one sponsors (Bridgewater Volkswagen could reward your lucky, single swing on Hole #10 with $10,000!). Hole #1 is sponsored by L3 Harris, the prime avionics contractor for the legendary CP140 Aurora aircraft. Be sure to plan a moment at this hole to gather some L3 goodies.
Hole #6 is sponsored by CIBC (which gas already two playing teams!), Hole #7 presents a great opportunity to check out sponsor Saltbox Brewing Company’s kiosk, highlighting their RCAF100 brew, High Altitude Ale; and BMO Bridgewater will be set up on Hole #13, promoting their new Support the Troops Mastercard.
As you play into the picturesque, par three Hole #15, Canadian sports broadcasting icon – and celebrity putter – Steve Armitage will lend you a hand. Once you make it to the challenging green, Armitage will – for a donation to the GMFRC – take away all the stress of making that last putt. He might even do a little play-by-play of the putt!
Further hole sponsors include Arby’s Bridgewater, an annual donor to the GMFRC’s Adopt the Troops for the Holidays initiative.
And – there are lots more prizes and games: thanks to the Best Western Plus Bridgewater Hotel & Convention Centre for the free, one night stay voucher; and to Dormie Workshop for an awesome head cover. You will have been given the opportunity at Hole #7 to check out local – and very talented artist – Dennis Curran’s one-of-a-kind painting depicting the RCAF100’s heritage, from biplane to F35 to rocket ship. The painting will go home at the end of the day to the auction’s lucky top bidder.
