Participate in change: defence advisory groups seek members

,

“Working together to see as one” exemplifies both the 14 Wing Greenwood vision of affording all civilian and military members the opportunity for a diverse and welcoming work environment, and promoting the values and prosperity of diversity in the workplace, in the interest of enhancing the operational capabilities of the base.

To support this vision, 14 Wing Greenwood has five Defence Advisory Groups (DAGs): the Defence Aboriginal Advisory Group (DAAG), the Defence Visible Minorities Group (DVMAG), the Defence Women’s Advisory Organization (DWAO), the Defence Advisory Group for Persons with Disabilities (DAGPWD) and the Defence Team Pride Advisory Organization (DTPAO). These groups provide unfettered advice and grassroots insight to Department of National Defence and Canadian Armed Forces leadership on issues relevant to their respective designated group on the implementation of employment equity and diversity across the Defence Team.

Your input is vital in identifying issues and formulating proposals that will assist in eliminating barriers and increase the sense of belonging for all Defence Team members. All civilian employees and military members may participate in any of the DAGs, regardless of the individuals’ ethnicity, gender, background or ability.

The Defence Visible Minority Advisory Group (DVMAG) is seeking to fill a vacancy of their civilian co-chair. You don’t need to identify as a member of a particular group to participate in change. If you are interested or seeking additional information, please contact the applicable champion, military co-chair or Major Backhouse, Royal Canadian Air Force professional conduct and culture officer, at 902-765-1494 local 1643; for more details.
