Flag a sign of welcome – for all

,

14 Wing Greenwood kicked off June as International Pride Month, with Colonel Jeff Davis and Wing Chief Warrant Officer Jonathan Proulx raising the progress pride flag at the main gate June 1.

404 (Long Range Patrol and Training) Squadron Lieutenant-Colonel Josh Christianson, 14 Wing’s Defence Team Pride Advisory Organization (DTPAO) champion, welcomed the crowd who gathered for the event.

“This is an opportunity for all those in the community, and their allies, to celebrate their successes, their resilience, their strengths; and to take a few moments to take pride in their authentic selves.”

Christianson was accompanied by 14 Wing’s RCAF professional conduct and culture officer, Major Michelle Backhouse, who also shared a few words.

“The display of this flag serves as a reminder that, here at 14 Wing, within the RCAF and the CAF; all Defence Team members are welcome; and it serves as a symbol to foster a stronger sense of belonging.”

Members of the DTPAO were moved by the show of 14 Wing community support for the event, and they encourage everyone to join in the many upcoming festivities across the province. Those interested in participating with the DTPAO, representing the Canadian Armed Forces, may reach out to DTPAO-OCFED@forces.gc.ca with their name and contact information.
